Robert Saxy Richard graduated from Jennings High School in 1991, and McNeese State University in 2000; majoring in History with a minor in English.

 

Robert Saxy Richard retired, in 2009 from the Army. Entering in the service in 1991, He was enlisted until 2000; where then he was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. His highest rank achieved was Captain (0-3). Robert Saxy Richard retired with almost 18 years of both reserve, and active duty time with multiple units and also reserve time with the 256th Infantry Brigade. He Served in Iraq as an Infantry Platoon Leader, from October 2004 to October 2005. Robert Saxy Richard was wounded in combat earning the Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star, and The Combat Infantry Badge. He returned home to take command of the unit he deployed overseas with and later retired as an instructor/cadre at Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Camp Ball, La, under the 199th Leadership Regiment.     

          Since retirement, Robert Saxy Richard has returned back to his musical background as a professional musician playing, and has played all over the world; to include countries of Belize, Honduras, & Switzerland at the International Blues Festival. He is a saxophonist/vocalist with Major Handy and The Louisiana Blues Band, and also with Grammy Award winning Buckwheat Zydeco. Lastly, Robert Saxy Richard has taken on aspirations of acting and is pursuing film. He has been featured in several films and series to include Pure Country 3, Queen Sugar, NCIS, and most recently in a featured role on a project named L' Expliation. On Sunday, February 4th Buckwheat Zydeco Jr & The Ils Sont Partis Band received a Grammy Award; making me a Grammy Award Winning Saxophonist !!!!! PLEASE check out our new CD named " New Begginings".  It's streaming on several music platforms; to include Amazon Music and Spotify. 

My "Sound" and product as an artist isn't defined by screaming altissimo notes, wicked arpeggios, or worrying about what the other guy is doing, but by me pouring every ounce of my soul into that moment through the sax.....

Here is my weekly schedule.  Note, there are some locations that will change weekly depending on prior private bookings.

Looking to hear Rob "Saxy" live?  You've come to the right location.  Keep in mind, on Sundays, Wednesdays, Fridays I will be at set vendors for those weekly calendar days.  Meaning on that day,  I will be there always at that designated day and time !!!  Days that are not listed are deemed closed and private engagements.  

Sundays - Tia Juanita's Smooth Jazz Brunch.  12pm till 3pm.
